Andusia Manage Customs Clearances, No Problem
At Andusia, logistics, looked after by our Operations team, is at the heart of our business and it is what we do best. Since 1st January 2021, there has been a requirement for additional Customs documents, leading to an increase in time-consuming administrative workload, further processes to manage and, if not managed properly, confusion.
The Andusia Operations Team have subsequently taken on this process in-house, completing all necessary documentation, on behalf of our customers, old and new. Here, we talk to Logistics Administrator, Lauren Hackney, who oversees custom clearances and deals with your day to day enquiries to find out more:
1. What has changed with regards to Customs Clearance requirements?
Since leaving the EU in January, import and export declarations now have to be fulfilled for every shipment between the UK and the EU.
2. How has the team prepared for these changes?
To ensure we can manage the extensive new procedures, on behalf of all customers, every member of the team has undertaken the appropriate training, certified by the British International Freight Association. You can be confident that every movement your waste makes is compliant whilst ensuring minimal disruption to your business.
3. Do you only deal with the export of RDF?
Whether it is RDF waste bales, plastic recycling or anything else that needs exporting, we can help you with freight forwarding services and logistics. We have strong relationships with logistics companies across Europe and in the UK. We have also recently extended our logistics services to include bulk shipping in addition to our bread and butter – curtain-siders and containers.
4. And finally, tell us a bit more about YOU Lauren?
I started working at Andusia in December 2019, my first meeting of my colleagues was at the annual Christmas party. Although initially a little nervous I was immediately put at ease after meeting the team! I love my job and enjoy organising movements and building relationships with producers, hauliers and customers. No day is the same. In my spare time, I enjoy socialising with my friends and family (when Boris allows!) and retail therapy!
Thank you, Lauren!
Whatever the method, the team always ensure the routes planned are environmentally mindful, keeping transport miles to a minimum and only ever use backhaul transport that would otherwise be returning empty.
Andusia really are a one-stop-shop for your logistical needs – in addition to customs clearances, the Andusia team arrange all the necessary documentation for the Environment Agency and manage Trans-Frontier Shipment (TFS) applications.
