Andusia’s Response to the Environment Services Association Report on UK EfW Infrastructure

This week, the Environment Service Association (ESA) published a report; Energy for the Circular Economy: An Overview of Energy from Waste in the UK.

“There are strong signs that the UK Government now recognises both the urgent need for better resource productivity and stewardship, and the exciting opportunities it brings for jobs, innovation, growth and sustainable lifestyle, in short, for what has been known for years now as a more Circular Economy.”

Andusia is in full support of the initiative to develop the UK’s EfW infrastructure as this is a key focus for the company moving forward. Andusia and the ESA both see the urgency and requirement for an additional outlet for the waste produced across the country. (more…)

What Could a Plastic Incineration Tax Mean to RDF Waste in the UK?

It has been announced this week that the UK government could be considering adding a tax to waste companies which incinerate plastic waste. While Andusia supports the waste hierarchy and the idea of encouraging plastic recycling, we also believe that it is important that an “incineration tax” is not introduced under the guise of increasing plastic recycling.

The introduction of tax penalties for incineration needs to be very carefully considered as to how this might affect the macroeconomic factors in the waste market.   The energy from waste market in the UK is in a delicate balance, and a new tax could destabilise the construction of new, and much needed, UK infrastructure of energy from waste facilities in order for the UK to move away from waste to landfill. Andusia’s Response to Lets Recycle Article

This month, Lets Recycle, published an article claiming that the RDF market is continuing to plateau. Andusia can confirm that its business continues to perform well in these established markets.  However, the RDF export market to Europe still offers many opportunities in other areas of Europe that are still growing. Recent figures show that there is growing capacity in Germany and Sweden where there is a drive to expand new and existing facilities. (more…)

Andusia at IFAT 2018

This week, the Andusia team travelled to Munich to visit IFAT. We had a great couple of days at the show are were pleased to meet many of our existing clients plus lots of new ones.

IFAT is the world’s leading trade fair for Waste and Energy Management and is a vital platform for visitors to procure strategies and solutions for using resources to ensure long-term preservation. This year Andusia will be visiting the trade fair and will be available for meetings with any current and prospective clients to discuss your requirements. (more…)

Andusia Attend World Waste to Energy Summit

Andusia is pleased to announce that the team will be attending this year’s World Waste to Energy and Resources Summit, in London. The event will take place on 23rd – 24th May 2018, and our Director, Stewart Brackenbury, and General Manager, Mark Terrell, will be attending the event.

The World Waste to Energy and Resources Summit brings together a whole range of industry leaders for two days of networking and features a seminar programme of 60 speakers. (more…)
