Andusia Partner with Powerday

Andusia is pleased to announce they have signed an SRF supply contract with Powerday PLC, London’s largest recycling and waste management company.

Powerday have the capacity to process up to 1.6 million tonnes of construction, demolition, municipal, commercial and industrial waste a year. Using the latest technology to recycle and recover, they are committed to providing 100% diversion from landfill solutions.

Last Summer, Powerday completed a £2m upgrade to their MRF in West London, enabling them to increase production of SRF, and to therefore contribute a greater volume to the emerging SRF market.

Solid Recovered Fuel, or SRF, is a higher quality alternative to RDF. Due to additional processing, the fuel consists of smaller fractions with a higher energy content. The higher calorific value means it is suitable for use in cement kiln facilities, replacing fossil fuels such as Petcoke and coal. Largely used to power kilns across Europe, SRF offers a sustainable and cost effective solution to the production of cement.

Andusia and Powerday have formed a partnership in order to export 10,000 tonnes a year of SRF to be recovered at a cement plant in the Mediterranean. This is one of Powerday’s first SRF trades since completing their MRF facility upgrade.

Jim Craig, Managing Director at Powerday commented ‘We are pleased to have established this partnership with Andusia which showcases our recycling capabilities especially as SRF is highly sustainable and cost effective.’

Stewart Brackenbury, Director and founder of Andusia said, “We are very excited to be joining forces with Powerday. We are always looking for like-minded companies with a passion for waste recovery – and that is exactly what we have found!”

Stewart ends “As we diversify into other forms of recovered fuels, most recently adding hazardous waste to our remit, we hope this further demonstrates how knowledgeable and diverse our business and the Andusia team is.”
