Andusia wins RDF supply deal with London waste firm RTS

Andusia has signed a supply contract for refuse-derived fuel (RDF) with London-based RTS Waste Management, further strengthening its customer base in the south of England.

The agreement with RTS runs for 12 months and will see 6,000 tonnes of loose RDF collected from the customer’s site for export to Germany via Andusia’s road haulage network.

The waste, which will be baled and wrapped, will be sent to various energy-from-waste plant operators in the region for use as sustainable fuel for electricity and heat generation.

RTS operates out of Kent with additional sites in London and Somerset, handling both household, commercial and construction waste.

The company is a new supplier for Andusia, and venturing into waste exports for the first time as it seeks a more reliable and cost-effective solution for landfill diversion.

“Our network of RDF suppliers continues to grow as we look to bring more companies into the export market where they can benefit from the continued demand for waste-based feedstocks in Europe,” said Mark Terrell, director of Andusia.

He added: “Building this ‘next generation’ pipeline of feedstock supply means we can strengthen our position as the leading RDF exporter in the south east of England and offer companies a long-term secure outlet for their waste management needs.”

Last year Andusia reported a record year, exporting more than 300,000 tonnes of RDF to customers in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France and Holland. Since its inception in 2012, Andusia has exported over 2 million tonnes of RDF to European markets.
