Andusia is proud to announce the signing of a landmark 10-year agreement worth approximately £100 million to supply residual waste to the forthcoming Medworth Energy-from-Waste (EfW) combined heat and power facility in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.
Under the contract, Andusia will supply 100,000 tonnes of residual waste per year, a total of 1 million tonnes over the duration of the deal, solidifying its position as one of the UK’s leading suppliers of sustainable waste derived fuels.
This long-term partnership marks a major step forward in Andusia’s strategic expansion within the UK, complementing its established reputation as a key exporter of RDF and SRF (solid recovered fuel) across Europe. The Medworth facility, being developed by MVV Environment Medworth Ltd, is now progressing into main construction. Once operational, it will convert non-recyclable residual waste into renewable energy for local industry and the national grid.
When completed, the Medworth facility will process up to 625,600 tonnes of non-recyclable residual waste annually, generating over 50 megawatts (MW) of electricity and supplying heat and power to local industry and the national grid.
Mark Terrell, Director at Andusia, commented: “We would like to congratulate MVV in reaching the construction phase for this project, it’s a fantastic milestone, and we very much look forward to working with the team more closely as the site and facility develops.”
The deal represents one of Andusia’s first major domestic residual waste supply contracts, underscoring the company’s commitment to strengthening its UK operations and playing a central role in the country’s drive toward sustainable energy generation.
Terrell added: “We have recently expanded our team and strengthened our focus to exploit more opportunities in the market – this includes working with new EfW facilities in the UK to help them secure feedstock, whether it’s during the commissioning stage or on a longer-term basis,”
He added: “We feel our UK base and identity gives us a strong advantage in this respect, not to mention our economies of scale which underpin our strong supply network.”
With over a decade of experience working in the residual waste, RDF and SRF markets, Andusia continues to drive innovation and resilience across the UK waste-to-energy sector, building on its proven ability to connect waste producers with high-quality recovery outlets at home and abroad.
