Stoke Based Clinical Waste Plant Well Underway

Construction of the Stoke-based clinical waste treatment plant, of which Andusia are sole supplier, is well underway. Progress has continued this month with EfW developer, Waste Energy Power Partners (WEPP) applying for the plants environmental permit. The Environment Agency have opened consultation on the permit, running until 4th June.

The plant, located on Scotia Road, Stoke-on-Trent, is due to be operational this Summer.

Andusia Sign Contract with Chambers Waste Management

Andusia are pleased to announce they have signed a two year contract with family-run, Guildford based Chambers Waste Management plc.

The new contract marks Andusia’s long standing relationship with Chambers and will see approximately 22,500 tonnes per annum of RDF being sent to several Energy from Waste plants across Northern Europe. The waste will be recovered and used to create energy and electricity, avoiding UK landfill.

Andusia Manage Customs Clearances, No Problem

At Andusia, logistics, looked after by our Operations team, is at the heart of our business and it is what we do best. Since 1st January 2021, there has been a requirement for additional Customs documents, leading to an increase in time-consuming administrative workload, further processes to manage and, if not managed properly, confusion.

Andusia Announce Polyurethane Foam Contract

Andusia is pleased to announce they have secured a different kind of waste contract to their norm – to supply processed polyurethane (PU) foam to a cement plant.

Polyurethane foam is the insulating material which is most widely used throughout the world for fridges and freezers. In its rigid form it acts as a structural and insulating material that is hidden in-between the outer casing.

Andusia Commit to UK Waste Suppliers

Just as new guidance has been issued for all UK Government buildings in England, Wales and Scotland to fly the Union Jack flag every day, to unite the nation and as a symbol of pride – Andusia would also like to take the opportunity to affirm their commitment to the UK and more specifically UK waste suppliers.

Over the past year, the waste industry has seen other waste exporters adopt alternative routes to market; promoting their supply of Polish, German and Italian waste to Energy from Waste (EfW) facilities across Northern Europe.

The Resilience of the Waste Industry

After a tumultuous 12 months the end is almost in sight. Under the UK Government’s roadmap out of lockdown, from 21st June, England will return to something close to normal. Andusia take a look back at the past years events on waste management for what has proven to be a resilient industry and the future of RDF export.

As reported in data published by the Environment Agency, RDF exports fell by 37% in 2020 compared to the previous year. Several influences last year undoubtedly impacted these export levels, such as Dutch tax, but the significant factor was most certainly the coronavirus pandemic.
