3 Million Tonnes and Counting: A Landmark Moment for RDF Exports

Andusia is proud to announce that, as of Week 2 of January 2026, it has exported 3 million tonnes of waste to Europe for energy recovery. This achievement marks an important step in Andusia’s growth and in the UK’s waste-to-energy supply chain.

Since launching in 2012, Andusia has grown from a pioneering independent RDF exporter into the UK’s leading specialist in transporting waste across Europe. Reaching 3 million tonnes, just a short time after surpassing 2.5 million tonnes in September 2024, demonstrates both Andusia’s operational strength and the ongoing demand for sustainable alternatives to landfill.

“Hitting 3 million tonnes so early in 2026 is a huge testament to the hard work of our team and the strength of our network,” said Mark Terrell, director of Andusia. “This milestone also shows just how important RDF exports are in diverting waste from landfill and generating low-carbon energy across Europe.”

From the first million tonnes collected in 2018, Andusia has steadily expanded its logistics and export capabilities, keeping pace with changing regulations, rising market demand, and the evolving waste-treatment landscape. Andusia now uses a mix of bulk shipping, containers, and specialised road haulage to deliver RDF to energy-from-waste (EfW) facilities in countries including Germany, Sweden, Denmark, France, the Netherlands and beyond.

“We have built a flexible and resilient supply chain that keeps waste moving efficiently, even through market and regulatory challenges,” added Terrell. “Reaching 3 million tonnes so soon after 2.5 million really reflects our commitment to innovation, reliability, and customer service.”

Andusia’s growth has also been driven by wider trends in waste management, such as rising UK landfill taxes, limited domestic processing capacity, and strong European demand for refuse-derived fuels. These factors make RDF exports an environmentally beneficial and cost-effective solution for UK waste producers.

Looking ahead, Andusia plans to build on this momentum in 2026 with continued investment in logistics, partnerships, and sustainable waste solutions, further strengthening its position as a leader in the RDF export market.
