Andusia has signed a supply contract for refuse-derived fuel (RDF) with London-based RTS Waste Management, further strengthening its customer base in the south of England.

The agreement with RTS runs for 12 months and will see 6,000 tonnes of loose RDF collected from the customer’s site for export to Germany via Andusia’s road haulage network.

Ahead of a UK General Election expected this year, Andusia has called on the next Government to get tough on waste crime and to seek greater harmonisation with the EU on key environmental regulation such as carbon taxes. It also argues that a free market should be maintained for legitimate waste exports across the UK and Europe.

Our director Chris May has been busy visiting some of the lucky winners over the past few weeks to present them with their accolades which celebrate key milestones when it comes to exporting RDF.

Congratulations to Andusia office administrator Ella Barrett who has recently gained her AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. Ella joined the company in June 2022, and a big part of her role is supporting our busy accounts team with various bookkeeping tasks.

Fresh from speaking at the RDF Industry Group members event in London this month, our director Mark Terrell took some time to take stock of the mood music in the room. Debate was lively and mainly centred around the economics of energy-from-waste (EfW), especially the rising trend for taxes.

Andusia is delighted to report that 2024 is already shaping up to be a record year as it forecasts that refuse-derived fuel (RDF) exports are set to double for the company over a 24-month period.

Latest projections show that Andusia is on track to export 450,000 tonnes of RDF in 2024 – this would represent an increase of over 100% compared to 2022 where it handled around 210,000 tonnes.
